Artisan God

Have you looked in the mirror lately? God really does have a sense of humour right?

Recently I had a bout of nostalgia reminiscing about a close friend who has been living interstate for some time now. It’s been years since we spoke, talking on the phone we brought each other up to speed … #re-connected! Our children are growing at warp speed; we humored each other with stories of parenting and navigating the teenage years.

After the call I was thinking about one of the funniest things he ever said to me, it was years ago but he felt it necessary to inform me that I had a big nose… I know right!

The truth is I do have a big nose.

The reality is it’s a family thing, my mother had it too.

What’s funny is, if you consider the human nose long enough you realise that God has a sense of humour.

The strangeness of our shape is no accident – in Jeremiah 1:4 the Bible says before I formed you in your mother’s womb I knew you’.

Here’s my quip: Is it liberating to know that God had my big nose planned before He made me?

In an age where perfection is something we chase and yet it seems so elusive, is it possible we are already made perfect though we may not see it? Is it possible that the ‘artisan’ God made me, me and that’s ok?

Ephesians 3:10 says ‘for we are God’s masterpiece, His workmanship.’

So, if God made me, me… I’m learning to be ok with that!
