I recently read about a kids product called ‘Story Stones’ — have you seen this? Type ‘Story Stones’ into your search engine and you’ll find handy tips and DYI manuals; it’s a whole new kids culture out there.
Essentially it’s an aid to telling stories to children, it inspires new vocabulary and creativity by using stones with pictures on them that support a story line. You can paint and draw on them yourself.
So it got me thinking… When the nation of Israel would experience the providence of God they would build a memorial to honour the Lord. When Joshua lead God’s people across the Jordan River he did the same… “Let this be a sign among you, so that when your children ask later, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’
Psalm 107 says, ‘Let the redeemed of the Lord say so’, another translation says, ‘Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story’ — all of us have a story to tell, when the touch of God left a mark, a memory. When grace amazed, when God moved and made a way.
These are our story stones; this is my journey, what’s yours?
