I Wish I Knew Her Name

G’day! My name is Nathan Thebridge, welcome to Chasing Light!

Do you have a favourite Bible story? I’m sure you do. In my younger days sitting in ‘kid’s church’ it was the adventures of David slaying lions and killing giants. Or Moses magically parting the Red Sea and playing hero as a nation watched him stand up for God.

There are so many Bible stories that still capture my heart and imagination.

One such tale is the story of the widow who came to the temple with an offering. Many came with their money bags from out of their extreme wealth but she came with all that she had, all that her hands could carry where two small coins.

Jesus was captivated by her gift and made her an example as He spoke to His disciples. The principles Jesus preached from what He saw stretch far and wide, but for me the most striking take home is how God can do so much with our little.

The founder of Feed The Hungry, Lester Sumrall is quoted by saying “I am not a person with unequaled abilities. My abilities seem equal to others. If there is a quality in me that is stronger than others, it’s a determination like the apostle Paul to finish this course, to keep the faith, and simply not to quit!”

You and me like Lester Sumrall can change the world carrying only what we have in our hand. Like the widow women did. Two-thousand years later we are still reading her story, and we don’t even know her name!

Keep Chasing Light – God Bless!
